MALUMA LAUNCHES AN ONLINE AUCTION FOR THE ARTWORK INSPIRED BY HIS NEW AUDIOVISUAL ALBUM #7DJ IN COLLAB WITH ARTIST FEDERICO URIBE

MIAMI, Florida (February 9, 2021). Global Latin music idol MALUMA, in collaboration with renowned Colombian artist Federico Uribe, has launched an online auction for the artwork selected for his new audiovisual album #7DJ via the Bidsquare platform.

All of the pieces featured within the experimental exhibition in Miami will be part of the auction including the main album cover art and the other seven pieces selected for each song within the album. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to various environmental non-profit foundations based in Colombia. The online auction will be available until February 28th 2021. For the release of his audiovisual album #7DJ (Seven Days in Jamaica), which includes a short film composed of seven interconnected videos and songs, Maluma felt it would be an amazing opportunity to collaborate with Federico Uribe to bring his vision of infusing an immersive world of music, art and life. Uribe is known as a master in the artistry of utilizing recycled materials to create life-like sculptures and unique art pieces. 

Maluma and Uribe have come together for a month to present a gallery experience, open to the public, of sustainable art that exhibits sculptures and art pieces made from common trash to represent the beauty of our world created by Uribe, in an 18,500 square foot showroom in Wynwood, Miami. 

The captivating experience includes a handmade portrait of Maluma, created with common trash for the #7DJ album cover. In addition, Maluma selected seven pieces made with recycled materials that portray the earth through the ocean, forest, farmland and much more to accompany each track featured in the album.

In addition, the artwork created for the main album cover will be auctioned off with 100% of the proceeds going to environmental non-profits presented by Maluma’s foundation, El Arte De Los Sueños, such as: Fundación Amigos del Mar, Jardín Botánico de Cartagena y Stand Up Providencia. Also, 33% of the proceeds from the other seven pieces will be donated to benefit these organizations. The pieces that are not sold during this charity auction after February 28th will be available at Artsy.
 
For #7DJ, the versatile ever-evolving singer/songwriter takes his sound in a completely unexpected new direction fusing Latin urban music with reggae and dancehall, collaborating with renowned Jamaican artists Ziggy Marley and Charly Black and incorporating traditional Jamaican musicians and live instruments (trumpets, saxophone, bass, drums). While each track has a distinct style; they are all seamlessly interconnected. The result is a latin urban world music masterpiece that is refreshing and as magical as the journey that inspired it.

Last Friday, CNCO kicked off their new era by announcing their eagerly awaited third studio album Déjà Vu, which is now available for pre-save HERE. For the upcoming concept project, the group flipped the script and reimagined classics from the past few decades that inspired them in different ways. Not only did the five vocalists breathe new life into these songs, but they also evoked a bit of nostalgia at the same time. Additionally, coinciding each release, the group is also unveiling conceptual videos that all interconnect, which kicked off with 2 trailers released early last week.

In conjunction with the announce, CNCO also revealed the first song off the project, “Tan Enamorados.” The track, which is the group’s new take of the song made widely popular in the 80’s by Ricardo Montaner, dropped alongside the Carlos Perez directed visual, which payed homage to a major pop culture moment of 1988, the same year the song came out, with references to New Kids On The Block’s“(You’ve Got It) The Right Stuff” video. MIAMI (November 19, 2020) – Mexico’s most beloved contemporary-pop singer, Carlos Rivera, joins forces with the Colombian superstar Maluma to give life to “100 Años, their surprising mariachi-themed collaboration. This single is available from all digital-music outlets, and the music video can be enjoyed on Carlos’ YouTube channel.

No one expected a team-up between these two young talents, and certainly not a ranchera song. But the chemistry and brotherhood that unite Carlos Rivera and Maluma gave them the power to break geographical and musical barriers.

Due to the pandemic, each singer was required to record his audio and video separately – Carlos in Mexico City and Maluma in Miami. But in spite of the distance, the artists could send greetings and give a toast to their friendship, showing the mutual affection that they have for each other’s culture on this video directed by Anita Tillero and Clara Pablo.

Both singers are backed by mariachi, as they pour all of their sentiment into this heartbreaking song written by Carlos Rivera, Maluma, Édgar Barrera and Vicente Barco. As the lyrics say, “aunque digan que no hay mal que duró más de 100 años, no quisieras ser el primer idiota en comprobarlo, un amor como el nuestro sabes que no se ve a diario, un amor como el nuestro vale la pena salvarlo” (though it’s said that nothing bad lasts 100 years, you wouldn’t want to be the first idiot to be the exception. A love like ours doesn’t come along every day, a love like ours is worth saving).

This powerful duet joins Carlos’ long list of spectacular achievements in 2020. He started the year with his chart-topping single “Perdiendo La Cabeza” (Losing My Head), which features cutting-edge Latin rhythms. He also released the keepsake Sessions Recorded At Abbey Road on vinyl. Shortly thereafter, he used the time during lockdown to record the critically acclaimed acoustic-covers EP Si Fuera Mía (If It Was Mine).

Tomorrow, Thursday, November 19, Carlos will serve for the first time as co-host of the Latin GRAMMY® ceremony, now in its 21st annual edition.

The Colombian singer-songwriter, Carlos Vives presents his book “Cumbiana: relatos de un mundo perdido” in conversation with Luz Maria Doria during the 37th edition of the Miami Book Fair, presented by Miami-Dade College. This year, the book fair will offer free virtual encounters with great writers to highlight the influence of Hispanic culture in South Florida. Through his book, Vives takes us to discover the origin of cumbia through a magical journey that weaves together the artist’s memory and is the portal to the reconstruction of an amazing amphibian nation that united its destiny in America with European culture and with the African culture to leave a musical legacy that has marked history. In addition to presenting impactful stories, there will be music and a question and answer space with the audience.


With more than 20 million albums sold worldwide, Carlos Vives represents Colombia’s most emblematic artist of all time. As an ambassador of Colombian and Latin American culture and sounds, he was the first Colombian to ever win a Grammy award, and to date has taken two Grammy® and eleven Latin Grammy®. As he continued his philanthropic work in support of Tras La Perla, he became the first artist to break attendance records at Colombia’s Movistar arena for selling out four. Global Latin music idol MALUMA has scored his nineteenth #1 on the Billboard Latin Airplay Chart with “Feel the Beat” his collab with the Black Eyed Peas. With “HAWÁI” at #2 and “Pa Ti” (with Jennifer Lopez) at #8, Maluma has three songs on the chart’s top ten and for a second time, the young artist has the #1 and #2 songs on the Billboard chart (his first time achieving this was in 2017 with “Sin Contrato” at #1 and “Chantaje” at #2).

All of this has happened in a very short time for the twenty-six year old who earned his first Billboard Latin Airplay #1 only five years ago, on November 21, 2015 with “Borró Cassette”.

Global Latin music idol MALUMA was honored last night at the 2020 Billboard Latin Music Awards with the Billboard Spirit of Hope Award for his commitment and altruism with his foundation founded in 2016, El Arte de los Sueños (The Art of Dreams), which currently supports at-risk youth in his native Medellín, Colombia by helping them accomplish their dreams.

Through song, dance, percussion and creative art (all with an urban emphasis), as well as psychosocial care, the organization seeks to generate the tools needed to seek a different lifestyle, so that these young dreamers can face the world and its challenges. Last year the artist also won the Agent of Change Award at the 2019 Premios Juventud (Youth Choice Awards) for his charitable work.

Maluma opened the show with an impactful performance of his global smash hit “HAWÁI” which began with the artist’s melodious voice accompanied only by a piano before erupting into the uptempo track the world has embraced. Click HERE to watch it now.

Maluma also impressed, as always, with his style. The fashion icon arrived on the carpet in his own design – a pale pink suit with shorts made by Colors, which included pearl buttons custom-made by McKenzie Liautaud – each with a letter of the artist’s name, marking the first time he designs his red carpet look. For the presentation of “Hawai” he wore an ensemble made of white silk with crystals designed by Pyer Moss especially for Maluma, conceived by the artist and his stylist Ugo Mozie.

Maluma continues to make music history with “HAWÁI”. He scores his eighteenth #1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart and it is now on its second week at #1 on the chart. He has remained at #1 for seven weeks on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart as well as #1 for an eighth week in a row on the Latin Streaming Songs chart. To date, the video has received more than 350 million views on his official YouTube channel. The global icon was honored with the prestigious award for his artistic excellence and incredible influence in multiple fields that go beyond music

Miami, FL. (October 22, 2020) –  Colombian singer, songwriter, actor, entrepreneur and one of the biggest influences in the Latin music industry, Carlos Vives, received last night the Billboard Hall of Fame Award. He received the honor in celebration of his artistic career and his incredible influence in multiple fields. In addition to receiving the prestigious award, Vives took over the stage at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida delighting his fans from around the world with a medley of his greatest hits. The award ceremony took place last night at 8pm/7c and was broadcast on the Telemundo network.

The award was presented by Emilio Estefan, who has been a key piece in Vives’ career and who opened the doors of his studio when the Colombian star first arrived in Miami. When presenting him with the award, Estefan let Carlos know how proud and honored he feels to have been part of this special moment. Vives received the award with much excitement after his explosive presentation: “Almost 30 years ago, I decided to make my music in an original way, without copying the genres of that time. I searched for my own pop and rock sounds of my town apart from the traditional music of Colombia, hence a new sound was born. At that time, much of the industry did not see it but the public did … Today, I thank Billboard for recognizing it tonight, and I want to share it with the entire Vives Team; with my record label Sony; Gaira Música Local; my manager Walter Kolm, because he always believed in me; my wife Claudia, my children and my country Colombia. And a message to the new generations, each of you are unique and original. Be the same with your music. Thank you Billboard.”

The influential artist received this award for his successful singing career, outstanding performance as an actor, television host, judge of “La Voz” (The Voice) and owner of restaurant and music club Gaira. Moreover, he is the founder of “Tras la Perla,” (Behind the Pearl), an initiative to improve people’s quality of life in his native Santa Marta and its surroundings, with educational and environmental programs. And to top it off, he is also the founder of the Rio Grande music school in Bogotá, where children develop artistic skills.

In addition to receiving the award, Carlos Vives blew the house away with a medley of his greatest hits, “Cumbiana”, “La Bicicleta”, “Gota Fría” and “Pa’ Mayte”. With a spectacular live performance, the artist filled the stage with great energy and vibrant colors. The performance featured a series of images, taking viewers on a musical journey through various stages, and included a recreation of the colorful buildings from Vives’ hometown meanwhile dancers dressed in traditional Colombian Vallenato clothing joined him throughout the performance. Without a doubt, Carlos Vives is a worthy representative of his culture and carries it highly wherever he performs.

The biggest night in latin music coincided with Billboard’s Latin Music Week, a three-day virtual experience dedicated to Latin music, culture, and entertainment taking place October 20-23. Celebrating its 30th anniversary, Carlos Vives took part in an intimate conversation with Gustavo Dudamel on the “From Local Inspiration To International Stage” panel at 10:30 am on Thursday, October 22nd. 

His most recent album, Cumbiana, explores the origins of cumbia in the deepest Colombian roots and in the instruments created by native peoples, highlighted in the documentary “The Lost World of Cumbiana.” With this imagery, Vives brings his personal journey to life, one that began 25 years ago with another one of his renowned albums, La Tierra del Olvido.

Not only has Carlos Vives won multiple international awards, he has sold over 20 million albums world-wide and his songs have been featured 33 times on the hottest of Latin music on Billboard. A total of 26 of his songs have made the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart, thirteen of which made the top 10 and five reached No. 1. He has placed 26 titles on the Latin Airplay chart, 15 of which topped the list, including his most recent hit “Si Me Das Tu Amor,” featuring Wisin. Meanwhile, he managed to place a total of 27 titles in the Tropical Airplay List, of which eight reached No. 1, including “Hoy Tengo Tiempo (Pinta Sensual)” which charted at #1 for six weeks in 2018.

In 2019 is when the multitalented singer-songwriter, musician, dancer and model, launched her solo career after being a vocalist for a popular group. Her first three singles helped her make a name for herself: “Recalienta” charted on the Billboard Hot 100 in Argentina. “No Soy Yo” with the Puerto Rican urban singer Darell showed off her daring side and surpassed 25 million views. “Boomshakalaka” with Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Afro Bros, Sebastián Yatra and Camilo won over massive audiences, surpassing 45 million views on YouTube.
