One of 2017’s Billboard Hot 100 breakout stars, Maluma does it again with another single successfully crossing over to the all-genre chart.
With Brazilian artist Nego do Borel as its featured guest, the popular Colombian singer’s «Corazón» cracks the Hot 100 at No. 92, marking his third ever song do to so.

With lyrics in both Spanish and Portuguese, the song had been gaining considerable momentum on Billboard’s Latin charts in the lead up to this week’s leap. After a nine week run on Hot Latin Songs, «Corazón» reaches No. 7 there. In a week of peaks, it hit No. 7 on Latin Streaming Songs and No. 11 on Latin Airplay.

The streaming performance has a great deal to do with the Hot 100 arrival of «Corazón.» The track logged over 1.5 million domestic Spotify plays in the qualifying weeklong frame, with roughly 10,000 more plays there than Ozuna and Cardi B’s «La Modelo.» Since its debut a month ago, the corresponding YouTube music video logged nearly 272 million streams, with no small number of those assuredly coming from American viewers.

While chart watchers and music journalists oohed and aahed last year over the Hot 100 dominance by Luis Fonsi’s bilingual Bieber-infused smash «Despacito,» Maluma’s «Felices Los 4» quietly crept into the top 50, peaking at No. 48 during its 20 week run on the all-genre singles chart. It was Maluma’s second Hot 100 entry at this time, preceded by his feature on Shakira’s «Chantaje.»

That song reached No. 51 there, lasting a total of 18 weeks on that chart. As of last month, «Felices Los 4» was certified 20x multi-platino in the RIAA’s Latin awards program, with «Chantaje» going 16x multi-platino as of last May. The latter should see a considerable jump in award levels the next time it is up for recertification. Impressively, «Corazon» has already earned RIAA oro status since its November release.

A sign of Latin music garnering mainstream levels of consumption, «Corazón» joins several other Spanish-language songs on the Hot 100 this week. The aforementioned bilingual singles «Despacito» and «La Modelo» take the No. 25 and No. 61 slots, while Fonsi’s «Echame La Culpa» collaboration with Demi Lovato reaches No. 64 and the star-studded remix of Farruko’s «Krippy Kush» arrives at a No. 75 peak.

Still benefitting from its Beyoncé feature, J Balvin’s «Mi Gente» dips up slightly this week to No. 30. As part of a tumultuous eleven weeks of chart appearances, Becky G and Bad Bunny’s «Mayores» climbs ten positions to reach No. 81. While the English-language version of Camila Cabello’s «Havana» is demonstrably getting the most play, qualifying performance of the Latin remix with Daddy Yankee directly contributes to its current placement at No. 2.

«Corazón» is expected to appear on F.A.M.E., the full length follow-up to Maluma’s Pretty Boy, Dirty Boyalbum for Sony Latin. Starting in March, he’ll also embark on a North American tour to promote the new record through the Spring.
