LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA (27 de septiembre, 2019) — Walter Kolm, visionario ejecutivo de la música latina y presidente de WK Entertainment, recibió el premio “Saban Ambassador of Peace” otorgado por la organización Creative Community For Peace durante un emotivo evento que se llevó a cabo anoche en Beverly Hills.
Kolm formó parte de un selecto grupo de homenajeados que también pertenece a la industria de la música: Aaron Bay-Shuck (co-presidente de Warner Records); Jacqueline Saturn (presidenta de Caroline Music/CMG); Troy Carter (fundador de Q&A y Atom Factory); y el exitoso músico jamaiquino Ziggy Marley. Una organización dedicada a apoyar la libertad artística con un énfasis en defender los conciertos que se llevan a cabo en Israel, Creative Community for Peace no es motivada por la política.
“Recibir este premio tiene un gran significado en mi carrera”, dijo Kolm minutos después de presentar un discurso de agradecimiento que transportó al público a sus años de adolescente rebelde enamorado del heavy metal. “Como representante de artistas, mi misión es romper las barreras culturales. Es así que Maluma, un chico de Colombia, llegó a grabar una canción a dúo con Madonna. O Carlos Vives, que se inspira en los ritmos de su tierra, logró llevar esos sonidos al mundo entero. Romper estas barreras es probablemente la victoria más significativa del trabajo que llevamos a cabo”.
Nacido en Buenos Aires, Kolm tenía solamente 17 años cuando fundó su propia disquera independiente. Después de trabajar con el sello Universal Music en Argentina, Chile y Estados Unidos, lanzó su propia firma en el 2012, guiando las carreras de estrellas como Maluma, Carlos Vives, Wisin, Silvestre Dangond, CNCO, Emilia y Rombai. Nombrado Ejecutivo del Año por la revista Billboard en el 2018, Kolm es conocido por permanecer estrechamente involucrado en las decisiones diarias de sus artistas, además de su notorio talento para descubrir y desarrollar nuevas tendencias en el extenso panorama de la música latina.

LOS ANGELES, CA (September 27, 2019) — Walter Kolm, visionary Latin music executive and president of WK Entertainment, was awarded the “Saban Ambassador of Peace” honor by the Creative Community For Peace during an emotionally charged event held last night at a private home in the Beverly Hills area.
Kolm was joined by four other distinguished honorees from the music industry: Aaron Bay-Shuck (CEO/Co-Chairman of Warner Records); Jacqueline Saturn (President, Caroline Music/CMG); Troy Carter (Founder of Q&A and Atom Factory); and Jamaican musician and hitmaker Ziggy Marley. An organization dedicated to supporting artistic freedom with a special emphasis on defending concert performances being held in Israel, Creative Community for Peace is apolitical by principle.
“Receiving this award has a very special meaning in my career,” said Kolm minutes after delivering an inspiring acceptance speech that transported the audience back to his years as a rebellious teenager in love with heavy metal. “As a manager, my mission is to break cultural barriers. This is how Maluma, a kid from Colombia, was able to record a duet with Madonna. Or Carlos Vives, who finds inspiration in the rhythms of his homeland, has managed to take those sounds all over the world. Breaking those barriers is probably the most significant victory in the work that we do.”
Born in Buenos Aires, Kolm was only 17 when he founded an indie record label. After stints with Universal Music in Argentina, Chile and the United States, he started his own management firm in 2012, shepherding the careers of Latin stars such as Maluma, Carlos Vives, Wisin, Silvestre Dangond, CNCO, Emilia and Rombai. Named Executive of the Year by Billboard magazine in 2018, Kolm is known for his close involvement in the day-to-day artistic decisions of his roster, as well as his rare ability to discover and develop new trends in the richly textured landscape of Latin music.
